Background: I have found several tutorials about ripping DVD to PSP video. Most of them used a DVD Ripper to rip DVD to AVI or MPEG first, and then used a PSP Video Converter to convert the AVI/MPEG files to MP4 format which can played by Sony PSP. In fact, You can complete the conversion with only one software - PSP Movie Creator. It is easy to use and the conversion speed is fast. PSP Movie Creator can also convert video files to PSP, such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, RM, RMVB, MPG.
1. Load DVD movie
Download PSP Movie Creator. Insert the DVD you want to rip, and then load DVD by choosing "File -> Open DVD" menu or clicking "Open -> Open DVD" button. The DVD to PSP Ripper software will then start playing the movie in the preview window.
2. Set DVD ripping mode.
* Rip the whole DVD to PSP: Keep the default value, that is to say, "start point" is 0:00, "stop point" is the total time of the DVD movie.
* Rip just partial segment: Drag the video playback controls to set "start point" and "stop point".
* Rip by chapters: Choose any chapter from the "Chapters" menu.
3. Set movie quality and size.
You can set the output file size by changing audio quality and quality. Please note: High quality = Large file size.
4. Start Ripping DVD to PSP
Click "Record it" to start ripping DVD to MP4 for PSP video. The conversion speed is fast. If you like, set output location by choosing "File -> Set Output Folder" before ripping. The MP4 file ripped can be played with Quicktime Player freeware. Please download it from here.
5. Tranfer PSP video files
Connect PSP to your computer using a USB cable. In your PSP, press "USB Connectivity" menu. If you use a memory card reader to transfer the video file, please connect your memory card reader to the computer.
In your PSP, Create a folder called "MP_ROOT" and inside that folder create another folder named "100MNV01".
In PSP Movie Creator, click "PSP Video Transfer" menu or "Transfer to PSP" button. You will see an explorer window that lists MP4 (video) files and THM (video thumbnail) files on both your PC and PSP. You can transfer files by drag & drop them to "\MP_ROOT\100MNV01".
Please note: The PSP video files' name must be "M4Vxxxxx.MP4". "M" and "V" should be capital. There would be five random numbers followed "M4V". The numbers must be same for .MP4 file and the corresponding .THM file. This is quite important, or your file can not be played on your PSP.
The trial version of PSP Movie Creator can only convert 5-minutes video files, you can get the full version from here. (30-day Money Back Guarantee)

Tips
1. Crop Mode - Widescreen Movie
Different video sources may have different aspect ratios (e.g 4:3, 16:9, 2.35:1). Both 16:9 and 2.35:1 are widescreen, however 2.35:1 is even wider. Some DVD movie with 2.35:1 aspect ratio contains black bars on top and bottom in order to fit into the 16:9 DVD standard. For 2.35:1 extra wide movies, you may choose the following crop modes based on your personal preference.
Mode1: Cut off the top black bar, use the bottom black bar for subtitle display. Cut off unimportant left, right wings.
Mode2: Cut off top and botton black bars. (Please set subtitle to "None"). Cut off unimportant left, right wings. (Recommended!)
Mode3: Cut off unimportant left, right wings.
Mode4: Cut off the top black bar, use the bottom black bar for subtitle display.
Mode5: Cut off top and bottom black bar. (Please set subtitle to "None")
Mode6: No cut off. (Default Mode)
2. Resolution
PSP Movie Creator detects aspect ratios from your video source and cropping mode and automatically select the most proper resolution for optimum video playback on PSP display. You can also manually select which resolution you want. PSP allows you to change Screen Mode to display 320x240 resolution video in different zoom, aspect ratios. For non-320x240 resolutions, PSP will always display in full screen. The resolutions supported by Sony PSP is limited to 76800 pixels. So only 320x240, 368x208, 400x192 are valid resolutions.
