AoA DVD Rip Software provides a fast, easy way to copy your DVD movies onto your hard drive in high quality AVI (DivX, Xvid, MPEG4), VCD PAL/NTSC (MPEG1) and SVCD PAL/NTSC (MPEG2) formats. It also extracts sound track from DVD.
Q: Which is the best output format?
The DVD copied and compressed by DivX is of high quality and only takes up 1/10 original DVD space. To output DivX format, you need to install the DivX Codec. Please follow the instruction.
1. Launch AoA DVD Ripper.
2. Set the output format as AVI (DivX, Xvid, MPEG-4...) from the drop list of "Convert To".
3. Reload your DVD.
4. Set the AVI video codec as "DivX" (Settings >> AVI Settings >> Video Codec >> DivX).
* Use full-function!
* Get technology support free!
Q: Why I cannot see all the movie titles?
Open the "Settings" window, uncheck the "Only Copy the Main Movie of the IFO File" box in the "Advanced Options" page.
Q: What's the limitation in trial version of AoA DVD Rip Software?
The limitation in the trial version is that you can only copy 10 minutes of a movie. Otherwise, the functionality is exactly the same in the trial version and full version.
Q: I just want to rip a portion of a DVD, how?
You can just rip the movie clips you want. In the Copy Mode area, select Chapter or Movie clip. For detailed guide, please click here.
Q: AoA DVD Ripper takes over 6 hours to rip a simple movie, am I doing something wrong?
Ripping DVD is always a time consuming job. It is slower than real time. You may not find any other ripper software faster than AoA DVD Ripper with the same settings.
If you want it faster, please rip DVD with DivX codec (See T3), and set a lower resolution, such as 352*288.
Q: I found that video is not in sync with the audio. How to resolve it?
Some NTSC disc have fake framerate (note as 23.967 but actually is 29.97) so it will be a little hard to rip.
1. Please check "force the output framerate" option and "audio/video sync option".
(Settings >> Advanced Options)
2. Set frame rate to 23.97 or 29.97 fps.
Try it on a 2 minutes piece and see how it plays.
If it still doesn't work, try the second solution.
Try remixing the AVI. Load the AVI in to virtualdub (you can search it on the Internet) and
stream both audio and video (so no re-encoding). In the audio options you can set an audio delay (positive or negative) so you can align the video and audio back in sync.
Q: Every time I try to convert DVD to AVI it switch to converting to VCD instead. Why? You need to select a movie title first.
Click on the title that you want, and you'll see the title is highlighted, then select "AVI (DivX)" from the drop list of "Convert To".
Or use the shortcut menu to change the output format (right click on a movie title, select "Convert To" in the poped shortcut menu, and then select "AVI (DivX, Xvid)" in the sub menu). Click here to see the demo.
Q: How can I check/uncheck all the movie titles? How can i set the output file name?
Right click the mouse button on a title item to pop up the shortcut menu. With this menu, you can conveniently set the name of the output file, select target format, check or uncheck titles. Click here to see the shortcut menu.
Q: My DVD drive cannot play DVD after installing AOA DVD Rip Software? What's wrong? AOA DVD Ripper automatically installs the latest version of the ASPI driver during installation. If your software DVD player doesn't support the latest version of ASPI, it won't work. You don't have to uninstall AOA DVD Ripper, just reinstall your DVD player software to restore ASPI.
Q: What's the difference between .IFO and .VOB files?
The .IFO (and backup .BUP) files contain menus and other information about the video and audio, you can treat it as the index of the media content. The .VOB files (for DVD-Video) and .AOB files (for DVD-Audio) are MPEG-2 program streams with additional packets containing navigation and search information.
Q: Can AOA DVD Ripper rip files encoded with CSS encryption technology?
CSS is an encryption/encoding method which is designed to protect DVD from being copied. AOA DVD Ripper can rip protected movies.
If it's illegal in your country to copy protected DVD for personal usage, please download AoA DVD Ripper SE (Standard Edition), which does not support ripping protected DVD movies, otherwise please download the General Version.
